I'm often confused at some of the objections people raise when presented with a super easy and convenient way to get quality nutrition into their lives. As you know, I market a product for people like me who are too busy to always prepare fresh, organic foods but want to have a healthy nutritional foundation. Sometimes, when I show the ingredient list for our IsaLean meal replacement shake to a prospective customer, I get the "Oh, I can't drink that! There's fructose in it!" response. So... you're not routinely consuming various forms of sugar?
Fructose is fruit sugar. Here are some facts:
Bananas: 1 medium banana has 105 calories, and 7.1 grams of fructose.
Strawberries: 1 cup of strawberries has 49 calories, and 4.1 grams of fructose.
Cherries: 1 cherry has 5 calories, and 0.4 grams of fructose.
Apples: 1 medium apple has 95 calories, and 12.6 grams of fructose.
All figures calculated from www.nutritiondata.com. Serving sizes as stated, fructose calculation = (total sucrose/2) + total fructose.
Beware the false claims of artificial sweeteners. It is so much better to allow your body to process the kind of sugar present in whole, natural foods, rather than invading it with chemical-filled sweeteners. Have you ever seen someone eating a double cheeseburger, with a nice diet soda on the side? Hmmmmm. No, thanks!
